Verónica Amarante has extensive experience in research in the area of poverty, inequality, labor market and public policies. During 2012 and 2013 she was Social Affairs Officer in the Social Development Division of ECLAC. Since February 2014 she is Director of the ECLAC Office in Montevideo. Previously, she worked as a researcher at the Institute of Economics of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Administration of the University of the Republic in Uruguay (1997-2011), and currently continues teaching activities at that institution. Verónica has a degree in Economics from the University of the Republic in Uruguay, Master of Science in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and a Doctor in Economics from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.
