Brief biography

Alma Espino is an Economist. She has been a researcher and Director (2007-2009) of the Institute of Economics of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, of the University of the Republic. His main fields of research are labor market, commerce, gender. Since 1997, Alma Espino is the coordinator of the "Development and Gender Area" at the Interdisciplinary Center for Development Studies, Uruguay (CIEDUR). Since 2003 she has been a professor in the Regional Training Program on Gender and Public Policies (PRIGEPP-FLACSO) and since 2006 belongs to the Latin American Working Group on Gender, Macroeconomics and International Economics. Espino has worked as a consultant to government agencies and ministries in the country and the region, as well as to international organizations (World Bank, UNRISD, UN Women, IDB, ECLAC, UNDP, ILO and others). He is currently a member of the Advisory Group of the Civil Society for Latin America and the Caribbean of UN-Women.
