Sarah Bradshaw

Brief biography

Sarah Bradshaw is a Professor of Gender and Sustainable Development in the School of Law at Middlesex University, London. With 30 years of experience working in the field of gender and development, her research seeks to better understand gendered inequalities and promote the realisation of women’s rights. She combines research with practice, having lobbied around World Bank policies, advocated for the inclusion of gendered rights in UN processes, and engaged in inter-governmental negotiations on international policy frameworks. She has published 4 books and over 50 academic papers, including the first book to consider the nexus of Gender, Development and Disasters (Elgar 2013). Her most recent publications have questioned what we actually know about gendered poverty, and how we know it.
