The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) announced the launch of the application period for the Summer School on Latin American Economies 2018, a training program aimed at young researchers, graduates and/or postgraduates interested in studying the process of Latin American development.

The nineteenth session of the Summer School will take place from July 18 through September 28, 2018, at the headquarters of the United Nations regional organization in Santiago, Chile.

The online applications will be accepted until April 16, 2018. The list of people selected for the program will be published on ECLAC’s website on April 25 of the current year.

The Summer School, coordinated by ECLAC’s Division of Production, Productivity and Management, was created in 2000. Since then, more than 500 students from 35 countries and from different universities throughout the world have participated. The classes, in Spanish and English, are given by researchers from ECLAC’s staff and prestigious professors from diverse universities, from both inside and outside the region.

This is a plural space for thinking that promotes discussion, reflection and the production and exchange of ideas regarding Latin American problems, based on the specialized contributions of ECLAC’s distinct divisions and cutting-edge advances in academic research.

The Institute for New Economic Thinking will collaborate once again on this latest session.

Registration and the course itself are free of charge. Participants are responsible for costs related to transportation, trips, accommodations and their stay.
